Default 2003 Accord Coupe - 1st Post

Hey all,

This is my first post to the boards. I have been reading them for a while now, but finally got pics of my newest car to post. I have a 2003 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L 4cyl. I bought it for 21,785 which included metal-look trim, auto day-night time mirror, door edge guards, wheel locks, and cargo net.

While this may be my first new car (yay), I am no stranger to the Accord family. My first car was a Buick, killed it, then moved to a 1984 Accord 4-door LX. Witnessed the greatness of the Accord, sold it, and bought 1995 Accord 4-door EX-L 4cyl. It currently is in a coma (I got into an accident) and it will soon be fixed(yay). And now, in the meantime, I bought a 03 Accord.

I recently got the windows tinted on the 03 and have good plans for it . I am both performance and audio oriented. As much as I enjoy a fast car, I love great sound.

I live in the DC area, but make trips to Ohio and New York every so often. So thats that.... on to the pics (of the 03 more on the 95 later) .

Thanks for checking this out. I look forward to posting with the rest of you Honda/Acura Freaks, like me  .

Its mirror, 35% all around.

The main goal of enhancements is in Competition SQ(audio). Speakers are easier to buy for this car than will be performance mods for the next year or so... look at the RSX they are just coming out with some real goodies, although many have been out for a while (and I have a 4cyl, not the focus, being the V6 6spdMT).

But I plan on getting it lowered and rims, haven't decided on 17s or 18s (weight, cash, and looks are a factor). Standard performance mods as they are available.

And thank you for the comment.

Its still 4 thousand, plus more insurance . But yes, I would rather have had the V6 MT cause of the 80 more hp and 50 more tq. But its a good car in the end, so no worries(there is tons of room in the engine area to play) .

BigB, do you have pictures of yours? I would like to see 2% tint. And what did you use to hook up your amps? Line Input converters? Just looking into some options, I really like the 6-in-dash changer.

Thanks for the comment.

converters would work, but they wouldn't be good enough for an SQ system.

unless you have an aftermarket head unit and use the in-dash changer as an auxilary input into the aftermarket deck. then you'd have a pretty clean signal.

ps-I usually don;t like mirrored tint, but it look great on a silver car cuz it mtches the exterior

From the research I have been doing that is the unfortunate answer I have come up with (about the line converters) and some said it was redundant to get a another head unit and I agree, but I will have to get one... converters suck for SQ. But I am thinking about where to put it, I really like the look of the push-n-slide front lower-center compartment. I will probally have to cut deeper, where no one can see(without cutting something major). Time will tell. Getting rid of the push-n-slide is not an option, so if I have to it may go under the seat.

And thank you for the compliment. 35% was a great % for that car. Any lighter and it wouldn't have been mirror enough and any darker it might have been to shiny, PLUS all the tickets I could get (its already illegal enough-being 70% is NY (VA is 50%) legal for front **sigh**) . The mirror and the exterior match the metal-look too. The steering wheel might have been nice but the dealers (generic) price was $500 so no thanks.

(sorry about going on about car audio in the main page)

Well, there is sooo much out there... Before I make any final decisions I am going to attend some car shows (1 this month, and at least 2 in August). I am planning on competing in the 1-600 class. I would like to hear some already been tested SQ systems, but I am looking at:

Components:
MB Quart Q series (QSD) 6.25"
35-32k FreqRes
90-170 rms
MB Quart P series (PCE) 6.25"
38-32k FreqRes
60-130 rms
JL Audio XR635-CS (3 component)
48-25k FreqRes
70 rms
Polk Audio db6750
35-23k FreqRes
100 rms
Alpine SPX-F17T (3 component)
30-35k FreqRes
75 rms

Subs:
at the moment JL Audio's 10 or 12 W0 series (great at low watts)

Amps:
JL Audio
Soundstream (personal liking)

---it really ends up depending on what I am getting speaker-wise

Thats it for those things, other upgrades will include a monitor and an EQ, currently Apline is looking good for that. They seem to have some really awesome components.

Now before someone sez "they won't fit here or there, etc etc" I will be making room. It will be a custom install. And I will keep the push-n-slide draw! hehe... It is a looks must for me!

Thanks for the reply Warp, keep them coming . Anyone else planning on getting a system too? Also hit me with some details!
