ya i did a search but didnt' find exactly what i wanted to know.. considering the most i can do with my engine now (yes i am a newb) is oil/plugs/wires/dist and make a whole shit load of nice with my subs... how easy would it be for me to go get a kit and recharge it myself? i have a 94 so i THINK i have the 134a in there so i dont' need the conversion.. any help/pics would be great! :thumbup: :thumbup:

buy the can refrigerant with the adapter already on it from pepboys or wherever and start your car with the ac running on high. on the front passenger side of your car, you will see 2 metal lines with blue caps on it. unscrew the cap with the "L" on it. DO NOT TOUCH THE ONE WITH THE "H" ON IT!
the "L" one is your low presure line and that is the one you need to use to refill. just attach the connector to it and let the can empty into the system. you might want to buy a compression meter to make sure you are not overcharging/undercharging the system.

 

I think the fitting on the kit wont fit the h side of the ac system. It comes that way to avoid the fitting to accidently be placed on the h side .
By the way I filled my ac with 2 big cans of refrigerant, and it still doesnt come out too cold.
Might be my condenser needs to be cleaned.

Pressure gauges would be a good thing to have. Lots of people here just tell you to add a can of refrigerant. So theirs was simply low, and it worked for them. Good deal.

So maybe you happen to have a clogged expansion valve, then you add a can of rifrigerant. Next week your compressor explodes, & you're mad at us because we told you to add the stuff...

AC is just like anything else in your car. There's more than one way for it to be screwed up. Diagnose the problem first so you don't make it worse.

Yes I think '94 had R134a, but there should be a sticker under the hood saying so... Make sure because you better not add the wrong stuff.

 

yes it is 134a i went to checker and got a can with a pressure guage for 20 bucks and now it is cold as hell thanks!

 

How do you know when you need to add a can of refrigerant?

I have a '98 Sedan...I don't think I have leaks.

It comes out cold, but it depends on the weather...should I buy a Pressure gauge and check it out?

 

I think if it's over 95 degrees, only top notch AC's will work really cold.
Like mine, will come out cold if it's under 85 degrees.
