Default 2K3 Accord - Any updates on Egg/Sulfer smell?

My dealership service department said that because I use 87 octane, it is part of the problem with me getting the egg/sulfer smell.

With 900 miles so far I have yet to notice anything out of the ordinary. I use 87 octane (mid-grade at high altitude here in Colorado).

I keep hearing about this nasty smell thing - but I guess I've been lucky, because I've never had it - not yet at least (3400 miles). I have only used 87 octane. Is the smell problem more common in the V6?

Default Eggs here on Mazda

I noticed a very, very bad egg/sulfer smell when I backed our Mazda MPV, 2003 into our garage. Something to do with the exhaust and emissions. Nothing to worry about from what I've seen/heard.

Not noticed it on my 03 EX V6 yet though.

might wanna replace your cat, i know that the cars very new and people might not think this as the problem but good things go bad
(that is if its coming out of the exhaust)

Check out this link:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/catalytic-converter4.htm I didn't have time to see if the answer to your problem is there. I believe the rotten egg smell is the result of a rich fuel mixture, but, there may be other reasons too. Try a different brand of gas for awhile and also try a higher octane (use what's recommended in the owners manuel). I have an 03 4cyl and don't notice any smell...

I am running 93 octane in my 03 AV6 and have gotten the smell about three times in 2400 miles. It does have to do with the cat on the car, but it it not deffective. It only happened to me after WOT runs in hot weather 85 degrees or higher outside. I personally think it has to do with the new cat mounted just off the engine block and the excess hot air being pushed throuhg on hard runs. It also has lots to do with the high concentrations of sulfur in US gas.

The smell only happens mostly when you "PUSH" the car hard...

Go somewhere and do a FAST/Rapid acceleration to about 60, then slow down you will smell it... oh, and I do think its mainly the V6's... I get it only when I push my car otherwise I dont get it, and it happens with ALL gas, 87, 89, 91, 93 or whatever they all will do it if your car does it...

I get the smell in the cabin of the car, I have not jumped out to smell the exhaust, though I may do that the next time.

I use 87 and I drive in equatorial climates, the carribean to be more specific.

So should I expect the smell to go away after the cat/car ages? I have 4000 miles on the odo of my EX V6.
