Default Rims and Spacers?

What's up guys. I recently got some 17's, and when I was getting them mounted and balanced the shop recommended getting spacers. Is it really necessary to get them? I'm not sure what size to get, and does anyone know of a good website to order them from?

you only need spacers if the offset is wrong, if you get spacers with the right offset then you'll look like a lowrider, you know the ones with the pop-out wheels... orele vato, yato's locos foreva essay

:chuckles:

Maybe I'm talking about something else then....

The hole in the center of my rims is a little bigger than the stock rims.....so really only the lug nuts are holding the rim on.

For instance....after a few months the lug nut holes could wear a little, and because the center hole is bigger than it should be....the rim could jiggle around even when fully tightened. Anyone follow this?

I thought a spacer was a thin piece of metal that went between the rim and the rotor/mounting area to emulate a stock rim.

It's your lugs that hold your wheel on tight. Some wheel companies include hubcentric rings, that may be what they are talking about.

yeah a hubcentric ring will mate perfectly with the circular recess on the back of your wheel, and reduces vibration somewhat, but its not necesary, I think nearly 90percent of people on here, including myself, have aftermarket rims without the ring spacer. Its really your call, if youll feel safer doing it, then do so.
