anyone know the differences between the VQ and the Vtec..??
how are the power on these two engines...?
i'm driving a 2k1 Maxima now and it has a 3.0 VQ..there is a lot of power..
but now i'm getting a V6 6speed coupe soon and was wondering if the coupe will feel a lot faster..??

 

why not look at specs of each engine?
here is what i found
240hp@6250rpm and 212ft/lbs@5000rpm for the accord curb weight 3265 lbs.
222hp@6400rpm and 217ft/lbs@4000rpm for the 2001 max, curb wegith 3199lbs.

i bet they will feel very similar...though i think you would do better to get a 2003 maxima over the accord...sure its heavier...but 265 hp is pretty bad ass...plus the price is about the same anyway.

 

the VQ is not VTEC. it's just an engine code for nissan.

the new max would be way better though the 2001, but they are more money than the accord now. the V6 altima is more in that range.

 

There is a big difference between the 2 cars. A 2001 Nissan Maxima is more comparable to the 6th Generation 200HP Accord. The new 2003 Accord V6 is much faster than a 2001 Nissan Maxima V6. There is a difference in feel I have driven both.

2001 Nissan Maxima Auto V6 - 15.9 1/4 mile
2001 Nissan Maxima Manual V6 - 15.2 1/4 Mile

2003 Honda Accord V6 auto - 15.0 1/4 mile
2003 Honda Accord V6 Manual - 14.5 1/4 mile

The Accord is faster. Better Motor and Tranny goes to the new accord v6 vs the older Gen Maxima. Plus the auto tranny for the accord is a 5spd auto vs 4 spd auto. 6spd for the Accord and 5spd manual for the Maxima. Hope this helps!!

 

the V6 in the accord coupe is a SOHC right..??...how does a SOHC compare to a DOHC....
i really don't know whats the difference between a SOHC and a DOHC...
can anyone explain...
