does it look like a tube...it it does....it picks up more air to give to your airbox because the battery is in the was so instead of moving the battery they did that....does that explain what it is?

that must be the engine bay of a 94-95 accord right? cuz the 96-97's are different when u take the battery and airbox into concern. But its good that the problem has been solved!

I dont really know if thats it or not...it could be cause i really dont know what i'm talking about, but this box has a tube that goes to the intake itself...i marked the tube with a big red dot in the above picture. If you're right, will it hurt anything to just take that whole thing out, unhook the electrical connection, and plug the tube or something? The reason i'm not sure if you're right is that the little arm thing attached to this box was originally in the stock pipe right in front of the battery where air is sucked in to pass through the resonator into the airbox, through the filter, into the engine...there is this little flap right at this original point of air intake (in the pipe itself) that seems to be controlled by the arm thing attached to the box. I cant figure out why there would be a flap there in the first place. I'm sure this made no sense whatsoever.

I remember it. I didn't want to remove it from my 93ex because of the electrical connection. So I kept everything related to it connected (electrical, tubing, etc). As I remember, i only plugged in one tubing (a really long one leading to the throttle body).
