Default 01 F23 turbo setup

01 i4 Accord Coupe F23a1(i believe)

I got my F-max kit in the mail today, and I have just spent 4 hours reading threads in this forum related to boosting and building up F22/23 eninges. Lots of info! But I need a lil more help.

I know that my stock engine will only accept 6-7 psi of boost, so I wanna work on the internals. I am Aiming for 12-14 psi of boost.

What exactly will I need to change in order to achieve this boost level?
Sleeves
Pistons
Piston Rings
Rods
Crankshaft?
Fuel Pump?

Injectors and a new headgasget came with the kit and I have ordered a manula boost controller.

How much would labor and parts cost me when the build up is complete?

Thanks

Default well...

I've talked to a few shops over the past few days and the consensus is . . . replace pistons, rods, and bearings. Get bigger injectors and a good Fuel injector controller, and a device to control Retard (ie. MSD Boost Timing Master). To top it off, I need to get a better Fuel Pump.

One shop suggested that I get my head worked on in order to allow all that air to flow in to the cylinders. Apparently noone thinks that I need to re-sleeve my car since i will be running 'low boost' (12-14 psi).

I guess this is what I will be doing, unless someone else knows otherwise.

..Piston, rods, gearing, rings, block guard.. Sleves are good, but they also raise your compression...Upgrade your fuel, that includes Pump, since the F-max comes with two piggie injector, get a high flow fuel rail and pressure regulator. F-max should also come with the MSD BTM, or the Gasket.. If you got the Gasket, then i sugest getting the MSD BTM.. WIth the Injetor if you don't want to use the Fmax one provide.. try the Eclipse one, they are 450cc, and can be bought on ebay for like 100+ for all four. You can do head work, but you risk it. Much easier to blow, and not as reliable. Also want to look at a clutch kit if you have a 5spd. ACT Stage2, with Lighten fly wheel option. Quafe also makes a LSD if you decided to go that way. Good luck and ask more specific if need.

Default thanks

Thanks for the info. Yes I got the Head Gasget Option. They just recently took that option off of their packages....i wonder if there is any problems....

Do you really recommend more injectors? Or are the piggyback ones ok? (for 12-14 psi)

What is a block guard. I have heard it mentioned once or twice before. How much does one cost?

Well, thats all for now. I hope I don't blow my motor. This is a daily driver.

Talk to 98accordex here and on HS. He explained a LOT of useful info to me when i was on the verge of boosting my ride. He ran his car with an Fmax kit at 10psi on total stock internals perfectly fine for 99k miles and he intentionally blew it i think. Anyways, he was making around 24X WHP and similar torque.

Ok, when I catch him, I will talk to 98accordex.

Anyone know good pistons and rods for good prices and where to get them? Arias, Je, Eagle, Crower.

What kind of break in should I do after I have installed all these parts?
