Decibel,

I know what you are talkin about with the NYC streets, dude...I do. It sucks. No one understands that but us, kid. I have tried making people understand what its like on the streets here, but cannot try any more. Our cars just cant remain showroom condition here.

Wanted to ask your opinion about doing certain mods to my 99 San Marino Red EX V-6 two door; my girl works for Tri City Auto, a full service place in College Point as their receptionist/bookkeeper, and she said they would be able to do whatever I wanted. I was thinking of these things:

-Stripping off my 20% tint and having them slap on completely limo black or that silver-to-black fade tint

-Lowering the car and having them drop chrome 18's with low profile rubber (they do rims and tires here too)

-Having them remove the dealer license plate frames (the front one cracked on me anyway and broke off) and putting red neon frames BEHIND the plates, so the neon glows FROM BEHIND---NOT AROUND--the plates (I have two Street Glow red neon frames sitting in my trunk)

-Having them shave all the Honda/Accord/V6 badging (not sure if I would like this)

-Having them add HID headlamps and maybe HID fogs...do they MAKE HID fogs?

-Have them add some bigger, more pronounced CHROME exhaust tips (I have the OEM stainless tips on the dual exhausts now)

-Maybe look into putting a higer spoiler on the trunk of the car, taking off my OEM one

She said they could do all this at her shop in one shot....BUT it would be UNBELIEVABLY expensive, she said....Im looking at AT LEAST four grand for the rims and tires alone....what do you think? I already have the OEM under body kit and rear wing; should I fool with either of those do you think, or leave them?

I'm truly amazed at your need for approval from everyone to mod your car. Seriously, I'm not trying to be rude...just do exactly what you want to you car. It's okay to ask opinions, that's what this board is for. But you've asked these questions 3-4 times now, and you've already heard the board's opinions.

Most everyone on here is going to say that a bigger wing, chrome wheels and neons behind your plate is going to look dumb, and I agree. But that's the thing...it's not our car. Just make it the way you want it.

Of the things you mentioned, the mild drop will look great on your car.

My two peices of advice here: 1. Don't let a shop decide what suspension products they use to drop the car, and 2. if you spend $4K on wheels and tires you are getting ripped big time unless they are forged or 3piece or something along those lines.

Last thing...from what you've posted about your car, seems that you're pretty dissatisfied with it. I'd save that money and get a new car that you really like instead of spending it on a car you don't really love.

Now, feel free to comment, but please don't try and argue with me. These are my opinions, you don't have to agree or try to change my mind.

Thanks J, I understand and take into consideration that these are your opinions; I will consider what to do on my own now. I think you are right about putting the money into another vehicle; but because I am absolutely tied with that situation right now and cant do anything about it (I need to hold onto this vehicle for the time being for certain family/personal reasons), I was considering doing the above mods only to kind of "pacify" myself while I need to live with the car; to kind of hold me over because the current way the car is OEM modded is beginning to feel old. Thanks for the tips again though.

J,

Another question which I forgot to ask in the last post; you said I would be getting ripped big time if I was charged 4K for rims and tires---you really think so? 18 inch chrome rims and low profile rubber---from a decent manufacturer such as BBS---would be LESS than 4K with installation, you think? Remember, I was thinking of going chrome.

You really think so? I mean, I can remember when I had my 94 Accord EX two-door before this 99 I have now, and I bought chrome rims for it....I didnt change the stock tires, I just dropped aftermarket 15" chrome rims on there---sure, looked like ass at the time, but I didnt know better; point is, those cost me 900 bucks from an off-the-side-of-the-road rim place on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn---not far from you----and that was for shitty, 15" wheels; you think I can get CHROME 18's WITH tires for under four grand? Do you know a shop in the Nassau/Brooklyn area that could satisfy that price point?
