Default question about my resonator

I've got a 95EX canadian model that was involved in an accident in February. The front bumper cover, right side marker, and fender were all damaged. The body was repaired and looks like new again. At the time I didn't notice any mechanical damage.

However, today I was cleaning out my air cleaner and I noticed that the air cleaner housing appears to have let go from it's mounting. As well, the resonator appears to be let go from what I can tell without taking out the fender lining.

Should I fix this problem or just remove the resonator since it's a common thing to do?

What exactly is the resonator's function, and should the fact that I drive in a canadian climate (7-8 months of winter) contribute to my final decision?

Thanks for your help.

the resonator's purpose is to slow down the incoming air and thus making it quieter.... just take it off.... all it does it add weight and restricts air..... taking it off will not effect u in winter.. hope that helps

how much louder is it going to be?
I absolutely hate cars that sound like fart boxes. If my car is going to be one of those, the resonator stays in regardless of the other benefits.

If we're only talking about a minor increase in volume, then it's ok.

i think that you would find the sound nice and deep, my friend took the resonator off his car... at normal rpms it sounded stock, but when he punched it, it gave a nice growl. hope that helps
