mobil 1 filters are among the best you can buy at most auto stores.

as for oil, there are many many diff opinions on it. Mobil 1 synthetic is supposed to be a good off teh shelf synthetic, but its expensive... ive heard many say redline synthetic is among the best you can get, not the racing oil but their general synthetic.

that is pretty thick, 40/50 weight is too thick for my taste. I use 5w30 all year round, while others use 10w30 in hot climates.

Honda recommends 5w30 for 4th/5th gens i believe, 10w30 if needed and 5w20 for 6th gens and up.

well how many miles do you have on your car? is your car using synthetic oil right now?

a. If you have high milage car and haven't been running synthetic then Mobile 1 High Milage formula is the best you can get.

b. Valvoline high milage is 2nd best IMHO.

1. If you have low milage and your car has been running synthetic then, Mobile 1 Tri-Synthetic is the best you can do, but its a tad expensive per bottle.

Filter:

I usually go use the same filter brand as the oil I get which is Mobile 1. If you don't want to go that route then, Mobile 1 > Bosch > Fram

Does it really make a big difference? I used the cheap WalMart brand for both my oil and my filter, 10w-30, and it worked good as far as I can tell.

i use 10w30 in my car (about 4.5 quarts) normally buy mine at cosco in bulk so the price point or manufactor really isnt a concern. filter wise i use modil 1 only
