For my heads up display, i tapped the rpm wire into the ecu which is located by the passenger foot well. I found what all the wires were for in my helms service manual. I just lent my digicam to a friend, so it might be awhile before i can get pictures, i'll try to get back to you later today, i just got off work and need some sleep

Yes you can splice into the tach wire running into the gauge cluster. Works fine. Try to find some kind of wiring diagram of the cluster to find the wire. Or buy a manual....

or if you're a cheapo...just use common sense... It will be the wire bundle on the tach side....a blue wire with a stripe. At least on my 4thGen it was anyways...

I understand the use of a tach, but y do people even get them? I saw a cavalier with 17's auto and a ****ing tach. I wanted to pimp slap his ass.

Some cheap cars like that and neons dont come with RPM gauges so they buy aftermarket ones but really they should just buy a smaller gauge instead.
