Default 2003 Accord makes a thump when engaged

I just got my car on Monday, and the strangest thing is happening - if it has been parked for any length of time, when I switch from Reverse to drive, within the first 4 seconds I hear a "thump" and feel a vibration in the gas pedal - it is very brief, but happens every time. Once the car is going, I cannot get it to happen again - I have to let it sit for about half an hour or so - and otherwise the car drives very well. Is this *normal*?!

I read about this somewhere on here. Seems to be a problem with the V6 models. My EX 2.4 doesn't seem to have this problem.

It is NOT a problem with any accords, because its normal...

All v6 03 accords do it, just some people dont notice it..

Its the ABS system primming/testing or whatever... I had talked to a honda tech and found that out, but its fine and normal. Happens to my car and my moms...

So if it's not a problem. Being that my EX doesn't do it then I should get it fixed!!

I just read over my sticker that came on my window and it didn't mention the Clunk feature. Damn I got jipped!!

Ya...it's never happened to me either...I just read this and went outside and checked as well, theres no clunk noise. Yellow- Maybe the two of us have lemons? The main reason I bought my car was so I could hear a clunking noise between reverse and drive, and I'm very angry about not having it.

OK you funny people...

What I am trying to say there is nothign wrong with the car doing it, ALL 2003 accords do it, question is some may be louder then others so some people will hear it some wont...

I only notice it on my car once in a while, and same for my moms.

We both asked dealers and spoke to people in the back who fix the cars and stuff and they all said that its normal and nothing is wrong.

Just because YOU dont notice it dont mean its not there...

Would I rather it not be there? YES who would not... but we dont have a choice... Do a search here as well as at http://www.v6performance.net/forums/...?s=&forumid=65

There are plenty of people whos car does it and have asked honda peeps and found out its fine and normal...

Woo... You need to get that checked, hehe... I am sure its not same thing we are talking about though...

The thing we talkin about is just ABS and TCS testing or priming itself... Slowind down should not do anything unless you hit brakes hard and ABS activates or TCS does... Then it does that crap, but A/C should have nothing to do with it...

So, what if I turn off TCS before I pull out? Will that keep it from happening? Hmmm... I'll try that when I leave work. Thanks guys for the info - it saves me a trip back to the dealer!
