Default honda overheating ?

I have a 95 accord 2.2 vtec EX

My cooling fan only comes on when my car is off. When my car is on and I am idleing the temp with go up slowly. so I just changed my thermostat.

When I took out my old thermostat it was stuck on close so I know that it was bad. but my cooling fan doesnt come on with my ignition on. Could it be my cooling fan sensor located where my thermostat is?

By the way is the sensor in the front of the car different from the one located by the theromstat on the back. PLEASE HELP!!!

I don't have a '95 so maybe someone'll correct me on some details...

The thermostat doesn't turn the fan on. The fan switch is that sensor in the thermostat housing. It's NOT the same as the other one near the upper radiator hose. That one's for the ECU. The smaller one is for the dashboard gauge. They don't 'share' information...

Does the temperature stay OK when you're driving? Your engine makes way more heat driving than it does when idling. The reason it gets hot idling is because there's no air moving thru the radiator. If your thermostat were stuck closed, then it would overheat worse while driving.

My fan comes on when car is off but not when the car is on. Could it be my temp sensor located where the theromostat is?

in my civ, it was the fan switch.. or thermoswitch.. or auxilary fan switch.. whatever you want to call it (all the same part)... that turns the fan on when it reaches a certain temp...... try replacin it.. no more thana $25 part.
