I have a 98 and when the weather is dry I get zapped every damn time I exit my car. I found that instead of getting shocked on my hand when I close the door I try to rub my whole arm or other exposed part of my body to absorb the blast. Haha, seriously I don't know how to stop it, help!

Never happened to me....but I have leather. I think it has to do with your fabric softener, or lack thereof....for a brief period I stopped using it and was getting the living shit shocked out of me at work....then I started again and no more shocks. Rub a dryer sheet on your fabric :-\

Thanks for all the replies. I talked to the service department at the Honda dealer here and he sounded like he was well aware of this problem. He suggested 1. Diluting fabric softener in water and spraying on seats..... 2. Soaking a fabric softener sheet in water then spraying on the seats and 3. Anti static aerosol spray. Don't know how long any of this would last though.......

Do you run the A/C a lot? Cuz that dries out the air....dunno if it makes a difference tho...

1. Make contact w/ your palm instead of your finger or fingertips.
2. Use a fabric softener like everybody said.
3. I use Scotchguard for spillproofing of the cloth and reduces the static as well. It's cheap and good, just get a can or two. Ex: I had a friend spill a bit of pop in the backseat and instead of the cloth absorbing it, it just stayed as tiny bubbles on top of the fabric until i wiped it off. Just like a diver's suit. Pretty neat stuff.
