Default Air Intakes

Do air intakes (In general) that you see on Ebay, that claim to add 10-15 horse power, or whatever, really add that much? I've heard that it really only adds probably somewhere around 3-5hp. How much do they usually add, really?

the aem V2 was dyno'd to add 17 - 19 HP ... it's just known that CAI's really deliver HP. when you get a short ram intake though, expect gains of 5-9 HP

Yup, 10-15Hp sure seems a lot for a no-name brand intake.

so what your saying is that if you take 2 AEM intakes(or whatever brand of your choosing), one with the AEM logo on it and the other without, the one with the logo will give more of a HP gain?

Go to the website and look for the tpr mag about the V2 and injen cold air intakes. It shows you pay for quality and injen rules!!! i thought about just getting a filter off of ebay but I now I am glad I didn't. And they test short rams and cold airs with dyno graphs to back them up.

yep.... and they'll show you anything to sell a product..... a local shop here did that same dyno test with a generic intake from ebay and an aem... both with a k&n filter and both with exactly the same results on the same car.

Its just an intake h: . The difference between my ebay intake and an aem is mine didnt come with a mounting braket. I had to make one myself with thick sheet metal and epoxy. But yes, put both intakes together that are the same shape and you will get the same results.

I am looking at getting an intake as well. It seems they don't differ that much and you pay for a name....is this correct?

FOr some odd reason, i didnt feel a gain at all when i installed my aem cai. It just sounded hella lot meaner, but i didnt feel any difference. I know it gave me gains through the difference in track time slips, but personally, those bolt-ons dont do much at all.
