Default Cracking open 2003 Headclight assemblies ... ?

OK, I bought a set of wrecker perfectly good 2003 Headlight assemblies.

Now to go crack them open, but these things are tighter than my first g/f!

How do I get these things open? I don't think heat is really a good idea - but I'll take sugestions.

I plan on making them gunmetal housings, and Audi A6 HID retrofiting.

Umm... slick03 or whatever did it. Do a search for his thread a couple weeks ago or PM him.

You have to heat them up to get them separated because the silicone seals the headlights.

How should I heat them? Are we talking in the oven, hairdryer? What temperature, if in the oven for a bit?

I used the oven on my headlights. Just use a moderate temperature and don't leave it in excessively long.

I think I did it about 300 degrees, but never left them in more than 10 seconds or so at a time.

Just until the glue softens. You'll get the idea

And better safe than sorry...you can always turn the heat up if it's not hot enough.
