Default 6gen Performance Upgrade Question

Can anyone suggest some practical ways in which to increase the hp of my engine? I have the 2002 4cyl 150hp vtec 150hp. I also have the K&N drop in filter which helped things a bit - IE less hesitation when releasing the clutch etc.

I don't want to spend more then $300.

Thanks,
M

300 dollars.....u can get a real aem cai like stated above, find a real good deal on a custom piping catback exhaust, or get a high flow catalyc converter. I wouldnt really suggest the custom exhaust because with 300 dollars, the quality will be shit and muffler selection will be very limited with ghetto ones and sound wont be all that nice either. 300 is too little to actually make a noticeable gain.

get a real CAI, doesn't have to be name brand and if you have the money left get a 4-1 header. with only $300 to work with don't expect too much.

or save alot more and get a turbo kit :naughty: that is currently what i am doing except i am slowly piecing mine together. Just to let u know a turboed f23a (6th gen 4cyl vtec engine) running like 10-12lbs of boost vs. a h22(dohc vtec prelude engine) running like 7-8 lbs would win. So if you plan to do anything like that do not buy the intake. If you don't want to do anything that serious then i will have my intake for sale in a couple months because one of the turbo pipes will replace it.

Stop bein such a cheap bitch. 300 bucks isn't enough to do anything. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Go big or go home. I'm new to the site so here's a lil info on my ride....I've got a 2000 Honda Accord EX 4dr, platinum tint windows, black chrome headlights, red/clear taillights, undercar neon kit (green), ground control coilovers, tokico illumina shocks, i've got it dropped about 2.5 inches front and back (they ride great set on 3...as comfortable as stock but handles much much better) That setup was about 1300 alone... next comes the GReddy evo exhaust (509), and the AEM V2 CAI (320), then the 18" wheels (keeping that quiet, along witht he body kit and paint ideas...dont want people jackin my ideas haha) then the body kit, and the paint....about 6000 for that..then interior and more engine upgrades..... this shit isn't cheap. 300 bucks will get u an extra 3 hp with cheap parts and u might have enough left over to buy a pack of gum to chew while you sit and think about how ****in dumb it is to try to up the performance of your car with a 300 dollar budget.

keep the k&N filter but be sure to take out all your resonator crap.
I've had both the ghetto-rigged cai and the aem cai and there isn't much if any difference until your really past the 90 mph range.

what to do with 300:
custom an exhaust
buy a used NOS kit
upgrade electric/ignition components

and don't pay attention to flamers
