Like previous posts, an ES is just a Lexus version of Camry.

I am sure the maintaince with Lexus will be a lot more than a Honda, since Lexus owners can afford to pay the jacked up price. I think one will save more money by buying a late model XLE V6 Camry than buying an ES (since they are basically the same car). Oh yeah, IMHO, a Toyota has a better reliablity than a Honda. Just a tad better!

But it's your money, your decision.

werd if you are gonna get a lexus those are the two. Raw amounts of horsepower can be had from these engines. Same one as in the the supra, 2jze-ge (non turboed version- still good for over 600 hp)

i'll take an audi over a lexus, awd + turbo+luxury+sweet looks.

a 1.8T can be some much faster than IS300 can very easily.

What year ES300??? The cars are very different from year to year, both in features, and in the difference from the Camry. Regardless though, The word Lexus definitely has more appeal than Accord does.

My parents owned a 97 and now an 01 ES300. It's pretty much the opposite of fun-to-drive. Not really a bad thing honestly, you won't find a better highway car for the money. They have been very reliable but they do start to feel "tired" at 60k+ miles. My dad sold his four year old 97 (80k miles; fair condition) for $13k. I'd rather get a 2002 Camry XLE V6, I'm not much on luxery and your getting a much newer feeling car.

really? my parents 2001 Camry LE v6 w/ 80k miles drives, and feels like the day it rolled off the lot..... Maybe its years, not mileage that makes it feel old.... but i think every car 3yrs + feels old when compared to a new car. new cars are , but you sure do pay for it.

if you're gonna buy a lexus, save up and get the GS430. i guarantee you will be happy with that car. or get the new 330. but i wouldn't get an es300. its a nice car dont get me wrong, just not fun at all to drive.

i hope you arent looking for any type of performance out of the es300. that thing sucks my ass, seriously. working at lexus and driving these cars around all day, i must say that the es300 is one of the worst, possibly the rx300. they both suck. i must say that the late model es300's are better than the new ones, but they still suck. all it is is a v6 camry with leather and a softer suspension, which if you are looking for something fun to drive, a soft suspension isnt going to get you far, its taking you in the wrong direction. if you want a lexus, get the is300. its very fun to drive, especially the 5 speed. you could also wait for the new gs to come out later this year, or early spring, i forget when it is. this will take down the price of the older gs if you were interested in those. if you wanted to go the suv route, consider the new gx470 or the rx330, both of those are sweet. well i will quit rambling. consider something other than the es300, honestly.
