Default 5th gen Fuel Filter

Who has replaced theirs? Have any pointers to make the job go a lil smoother? how'd the car run after? Did it accelerate any smoother? maybe even quicker?

It is on the driver side on the 5th gens.

Its a pain to replace. I have been putting mine off. You need to be able to get it from under the car because there is also a hose line bolted to the bottom of it. If you look at it from above the car it looks like their is no room to be able to get it from under the car. Just a real pain in the ass to get to.

Oh damn. I could have sworn mine is on the passenger side, pretty close to the top of the engine bay:dunno: I'll have to check it out again. I hope it isn't as bad as you guys are saying, I need to do a full tune-up and would like to do it all myself.

if it's plugged then it can hurt performance and clean fuel is always nice for your motor too.

it should be done at some point, the manual says like 60k, but honeslty 90k or when the timing belt is done is fine. i had mine done with my sway at 99K.
