Default 6gen strut bar install - help

I just received my upper strut bar. Is there anything I should know before I install it? Can I do this myself on the driveway?

Its the Vibrant Perf bar and it has two pivot points at either end... the bar I had in my Passat was solid... what's the point with this?

Any comments/help is kindly appreciated. M

i did mine myself on a 98 4-door. it took about 1 1/2 hrs. i had never done one before. i had to take the strut bolts off on both sides @ once & also had to remove the factory supports to get it on. then put the factories back on loose & alighn everything up before tightning it all up.

just keep in mind that they don't have to be torqued down too tight. my dubby did his & tightened one of the factory bolts too tight & snapped it off :madfawk:

So you removed the factory supports? Also, did you do all this with the front wheels raised or on the ground... does it matter?

i kept my factory supports... kept mine on the ground, took like half hour... you can feel the difference for a good 10 mins or so then it just becomes part of the 'feel' of the car.

it's a piece of cake...i did mine on my '98 sedan and took about 20 mins to do the whole job. remove the factory bolts and supports, torque down the strut bar (do not over tighten!) with the factory supports on top of the strut bar. It's very easy to do, nothing hard or time consuming.

would there be a difference if the factory supports stay on the bottom and you just bolt on the strut bar on top of it
