Default Ticking Noise When Engine is Cold?

Is this a valvetrain problem? It goes away when the car is warm, but when cold, the engine has a fairly substantial ticking noise. I was wondering if this is potentially serious, and if this is common with the F-series 4-cylinders.

The car only has 34,000 miles on it.

Yes, and it's normal. This has been going on for some time, and since then the car has gone through multiple oil changes. Nothing related to the oil.

i've seen a lot of cars with hydraulic lifters tick until warm.....they seem to pump up a little and until they do, they have a little bit of slack.....it could hurt it if you don't let it warm up properly, but if you do it all right, then it won't hurt anything
