I don't remember, I picked up a bunch of bottles a while ago...5W-30 maybe? It's whatever Honda specifies.

ooh... well... my engine is never ever really cold... tropical climate.... when was the last time you changed your oil... i think you should change it just in case... that may solve your problem and it's relatively inexpensive...

It's been doing this regardless of the temperature, just when the engine is not at operating temperature (could be 30, 60 or 80 degrees outside and this happens).

It's been happening for a while, and I've changed my oil since then multiple times. It's just weird.

Oh well, I've heard other F22/F23 Accords do this, and they haven't blown up yet. :fawk:

I've got a 6th gen, 4 cyl. and it does the same thing when its cold but it all goes away when it warms up. no biggie, i've heard they all do this. i used mobile one synthetic as well (5-30) as well. i heard some mention before that when you take your car back for a service at the dealer, like usuallly the 30k service, they adjust your valves. but i heard its normal. mine only has 42k on it. im not really worried about it.

my exhaust ticks after it gets hot and then cools off *shrug*, ticks are normal on cold starts though...unless it's excessive then it'd be the valves

I've had the same problem on a 97 Civic and am now having it on a 2000 Accord EX. Both were 4cly models and both had a mild ticking sound when it was cold. The sound would go away as soon as the engine made it up to operating temp. However, I didn't start noticing this until the engines started approaching 100K miles. Had the valves adjusted on both and no change. Tried additives, tried cleaners (thought I had a clogged oil jet). No luck. Best bet always seemed to just let it warm up before driving on cold days.

normal regardless of weather. your fuel injectors have a tick to them also. the cold weather makes it more noticeable.
