Default AEM question

I was looking around and i cam across AEM Tru-Power Pulley Kits for my 96 accord. Now i dont know what they actualy do, maybe someone in here can exlain it to me. But i guess my question is will it hurt my car in the long run if i bought them. I dont know maybe i need to be better informed on what they actualy do first right. thanks for the help.

I will try to inform you as much as I can. They will not hurt your engine what so ever. Actully they will be lighter and more durable. They say they add performance but im not sure if anybody actully as got the performance that AEM says.

There is 2 pulleys and 1 belt. You should see the pulleys on your stock motor if you look on the bottom right side of your engine..

Personal Experience with unorthodox racing's pullies (they give more gains than AEM)....your not going to notice a dramatic gain in power. The car may rev up to redline a wee bit quicker.

You will notice improved fuel economy, however.

this is not a great starter mod....get it after you have the basic bolt ons like i/h/e..

i have those basic starter mods. intake, header, exhaust. but the reason i ask this question was that unorthodox pulleys or any kind of pulleys are bad for ur cars engine, i cant remember why though. or maybe it is the underdrive pulleys that were bad for ur car i am kinda lost

the unorthodox crank pulley is supposedly bad since it eliminates the harmonic balancer. there is much debate over whether it's true or not. i just as well not risk it. try a search you may find some more info.

pulleys are bad because they change the turns ratio between the engine and the alternator. this means that the electrical system of your car, which relies on a certain amount of cycles per unit time from the alternator to generate the power it needs, will suck more power then you can create. It's not so horrible if you dont have a system, but if you do, I would highly recommend you not do this mod. . .

yeah i was gonna say what you've just said.

on top of what he has mentioned, if you want to run the big system in your ride, i would get an additional optima battery in your trunk to back up your alarm & run the sound system with it & get the 1farad heavy duty capacitor for your subs.
then you will be very safe to do the pulley mods.
