Default hypothetical situation

car: 03 Honda Accord LX V6 Sedan, Automatic
goal: transmission swap to 5 speed manual

i have an idea of ppl that can swap trannys but the average cost ive seen from them for older cars was 1200-2000

question is, what cost would i be lookin at tryin to get a shop to swap the auto to a manual?
would 6 speed even be possible?
any specific damages i shoudl worry about besides "the car may never be the same again"?
would mechanics even be able to mess w/ an 03 accord, being new ?

I don't see why not? :dunno: the 6 speed manual from the coupe should be a perfect swap, right? I would think finding one would be the bigger problem.

why would you want to spend that money for the 4dr? don't you like the looks of the 2 dr better? I'm a sedan guy, but I like the coupe a lot more. But hey if you were to do it, it should match up fine. I'm sure your going to pay for it though.

i don't understand why? it will cost way too much money, void warrantee, and kill resale. if you want 4 doors and stick, look at the mazda 6, alitma, or maxima. does acura make the tl-s with a 6sp yet? i here the cl/cl-s is going away so 2004 may bring a 6sp tl-s. hell how about the acura tsx? whatever you do, don't do a 6sp conversion to a brand new car.

Damn you guys are afraid of anything custom aren't you?

It could be done considering it is the same engine etc. but as you said finding the tranny is gonna be hard to do. As for the swap itself...just like any other auto to manual swap pretty much.

Not to be rude...but this isn't going to happen.

If you dad wouldn't let you get 18's, he's not going to let you (and pay for) a tranny swap.

And the title of the thread being "Hypothetical Situation" makes this comment valid in what way again??

Sorry but you guys need to quit bashing and maybe discuss the potential...who knows maybe someone else is considering it.

Why would he ever want to go buy a new 4-door car when he just bought a 03 accord? And he said 5-speed conversion.

because destroying a brand new car by dropping $$$ for a 5sp conversion is just stupid unless you have money to throw around. he should have either bought the coupe or bought a V6-4door-manual tranny in the first place.

if take the money you spend for the car + a manual swap=you can get a nicer car.

custom is one thing, hell i do have a h22+plus a 5sp swap remember, but my car is 8 yrs old and not brand new. you don't mess with a new car like that unless you have money or it's a hobbie and you plan on showing it.
