Default Extended warranty

I just recently bought a new car and was wonder about buying the extended warranty. The vehicle comes w/ a 3yr/36k warranty standard. Would you buy the extended 7yr/100k warranty for $18/month for 60 months?

Not to sound ignorant, but if it's a Honda or Acura, don't bother. I have many better ways to spend $18 a month than on a warranty I probably won't need.

Sometimes, something might happened unexpectedly. I remember that my crank bolt came off of my car a week before my warranty was up too...I just got real lucky then.h: A friend had some trouble with his prelude but he has the extended warranty and it covered the problems

I agree with that. For $1200+, it's a waste of money on a Honda or Toyota IMO.

yea i would never consider buying a extended warranty either if Honda didn't have this tranny issue. I'm only buying the extended warranty because of the tranny.

2.6% of all Accord V-6's have had a premature tranny failure, as reported by Consumer Reports. Is a 1/50 chance worth $1200? I took the chance, and my old Accord has 85k before she was totalled without any problems...this one has 70k and no problems whatsoever.

my parents bought the toyota platinum warranty (6r/100k) on their 2000 camry... the car now has 75k miles and has never needed any warranty work... its not worth it IMO.... it was $1000.

Fund your own warranty. Put that $18 in a savings account every month for the next 5 years. If you ever need any big repairs it'll be there. If not you'll have $1,080 cash that you can do whatever you want with.

If you buy the warranty and nothing ever breaks you'll never get your money back.
