i did that shit with the extension, believe it or not, you may find it easier to do the spring bolts at the cat first, its harder to put the them on after you do the three bolts to the downpipe

Yeah, I found out the hard way that I'd need an extension to get them off. But, what I did was took off the spring bolts, unbolted the downpipe brace, unbolted the manifold and pulled it off the studs then dropped it down as far as I could, looks like I'll only need a 6" extension, shouldn't be too bad, but judging from the looks of the manifold, I will definitely soak those bolts in wd40 before attempting to get them off.
if it still doesnt work, liquid wrench does wonders... wish i had some when i was doing the install but i did mine at like 10pm and everything was closed.
