A friend of mine has a 92 accord and I need some help with it. She was backing up out from a store and when she went to put it into drive it wouldnt go. The whole thing seems locked up. No matter what is done the car stays in reverse. She put it back into a parking spot and since the car is stuck in reverse the key wont come out. The car is an automatic with about 126k on it. I was thinking either the sycros were just toasted in it and seized up or possibly it was the shift lock mechanism that was malfunctioning or something. Anyone have any ideas. I need to get going on this thing since she drives it to work everyday. (except now). Thanks guys.

 

No the shifter is stuck in reverse. Nothing will move.

 

sounds like the locking mechanism went bad.. that bites... a buddy of mine's s-10 did the same thing... we beat the **** out of the shifter until it let go..
