Yes I heard that there are remote car starters for manual trannies. Not quite sure of which brand/model #s, though.

Hmm...you have me thinking now.

ok, here's the deal with the remote starters and 5 speed cars.
I used to have the crimestopper lcd 2 way alarm, this is how I know about these.

most all remote starters will work on cars with manual transmissions, the companies just won't say that, because they only want them used on auto's.

they say its a safety reason, like someone may leave the car in 1st, then use the remote to start the car and it could jerk foward during starting and possibly injur someone. that is the reason you won't see companies endorsing remote starters for 5 speed car. however they WILL work on manual tranny car, just make sure its in neutral when it remote started.

first off i never leave my car in gear since i bought it, i never even knew i was supposed to leave it in 1st gear till now. my car only goes from my drive way and to work, so i really would never have a prob. second is what company would i look for that would sell remote starters for standard cars also what is an average price for one. also someone that knows how to put alarms in a car should know how to put a remote starter in right.

They do make them. Guaranteed. A guy with a gsr 5spd has it and saw, rather heard it start up. I think it was clifford. Just don't leave it in gear. Oh, btw, it ran him $200.

I have a remote start on my 6-sp GT-S, and I think all remote start will work on manual tranny car, you just have to find a guy who knows how to install it. As for safety issue, the one that I have is bought from BJ's, it's like $60, piece of crap, but it works, and here is how to safely start your car.

Step:
1: b4 you shut down the engine, you'll have to press the start button on the remote. (this will keep the engine running even if you take out the key)
2: Once it's been pressed, take out the key, at that time the engine is still running.
3: Get outta the car, shut the door, press that same button again, then the engine shut down.

So the third step is assure you that your tranny is in neutral position, coz if you left it at 1st, you can get out with the engin running!! And if you don't do this procedure, you cannot start your car remotely next time, unless you manually disable this feature.

the clifford g4 remote start is one of the few full featured alarms that are *safe* to use with manual transmissions. you dont loose the functionality of the clutch safety switch either. www.clifford.com

the process is the same as above

i got a manual tranny accord, armed with a compustar 2way-spread spectrum alarm system............with the IDIOT PROOF remote start. i got it for 700 installed. comes with a lcd pager with a 1.5 mile range. that way, you can start your car far away.........like in the mall or something, and if someone's messing with it in the parking lot, it'll beep ya.
how the remote start works is sorta similiar to celica-gts's reply, except not that ghetto. all you gotta do is when the car is on, just take it out the ignition(the engine will still be running), get out of the car, and in 10 seconds it'll arm itself and turn off automatically. also you can add all kinds of options to the alarm system...........i'ma bouts to add on the motion sensor
