Default Fuel Pump??

This to is my first car and its already being a pain. I'm not sure whats wrong with it. I was driving it along and the RMPs dropped quickly, and the car shut-off. 5 mins. later the car started right back up again. I got it home, it seems to me if i got it up past 3500 RPMS it would shut-off. We replaced the fuel filter and now it won't start up. Could it just be ice in the line or bad gas??? I'm open for suggestions.

First off, what year Accord? It doesn't sound like bad gas, it would have effected all RPM ranges, although it would be more prominent in higher RPM's. You would probably notice detonation before the car shutoff.

My best guess is yours - the fuel pump committed suicide.

Did you do a tune up after buying it? This is something that is suggested, since you'd be starting from "new" with the basics of the car. So if something does go wrong, like in your case, you can rule out the things you replaced.

BTW, I don't feel I'm getting the best milage out of my accord, how would someone go about replacing a fuel pump? Is it expensive?

It could be a number of things tainted gas, fuel pump, sensors, bad ECU, & eletrical stuff plugs etc...

Default I'm pretty sure it's not the fuel pump now

Here's the latest on the problem...

The car started cold and ran fine until it warmed up to normal operating temp, then it just stopped, as if I'd turned the key off.

When we disconnected the temp sending unit (the two wire connection, not the one wire that feeds the temp guage), we could get it to keep running. Are we talking about a bad sensor or computer, or something else?

if he's on a stock fuel system that will be too much flow. If your not going hardcore performance just get a factory fuel pump.
