check for a blinking green key light if it's blinking with the key in the on position then the immobilizer is locking you out.

Okay, now we are getting somewhere! YES, it comes on solid, but then blinks.

DUH.

Helps when you use the correct KEY!

My son tells me tonight the guy we bought it from said to use THIS key (pointing to the gray valet key) to start it........
