New Guy Here!! 93 EX concern!
Wazzup Accordians!
First post here...
I just got a 93 Ex Sedan (Auto) for my Commuter Car, It has about 137K Miles on it but it's Clean and still runs great!
First Issue: The car seems to Idle ROUGHLY specially if Im going on Reverse!
Second Issue: The car shifts abruptly from Park - D4 and not so abruptly from D4 to whatever it goes to next but still a very noticable Shift.
Third Issue: I dont have a manual and now I need the DAMN CODE for the stereo.
Other than the above the car is FANTASTIC..Lots of juice in the engine still...even smells new.
What do I need to do to fix my issues?..Send it in to the HONDA DEALER for repair? I just got it Yesterday from a TOYOTA Dealership!
Thanks for reading!..Im Glad I found this place!
BTW..the freaking TOYOTA dealer jipped my Stock Wheels and gave me some 14's on HUB CAPS!!!

That figures that Toyota f---ed you over, I hate that company.
The transmission thing...I've generally noticed that in all 3rd generations. This includes the rough idling in reverse. Maybe other members can attest otherwise, for I don't have 3rd gen.
Eitherway, enjoy your new ride and welcome to Honda-Acura.Net!

it is a 4th generation... 3rd gen was 86-89.
I had a 90 accord EX... got it with 190kmi on it, sold it with 290kmi on it... that car also idled slightly rough... and got to be pretty bad when you "lugged" it in reverse (manual tranny). It never seemed to be a major problem though, it always had state inspections done at Honda, and they test drive the cars, they never said anything was wrong with it. You may want to look into adjusting the idle though... as far as I know there is an adjustment screw somewhere on the throttle body.
My mothers old car (91 accord SE) always had a slightly abrupt shift to it when putting it into drive... the transmission was just not super refined and had fairly stiff shifts. As far as I know, all the 4th gens were like that... 3rd gens were even worse.
For the radio... try going to a honda dealer (you have to go so you can prove you own the car) and I believe they locate the radio code by the VIN number. People say it is on a sticker somewhere in the car... but that is VERY RARE!
Good luck with everything.

How's the tranny shift when its warm? if its fairly smooth then I would change the tranny fluid and that might improve the bang/abrupt shift into drive from park. But if she's slipping even when warm you may have a real problem and should hit the toyota folks to take care of it under warranty (lemon law on used cars)
In general, honda AT's are very rough/aggressive shifting. My 5th gen AT is bangs out of park on cold mornings until it is warm, but if i change the fluid it will be good for awhile...

Your radio code is gonna have to be tracked down -- I've never heard of it being somewhere in the car, unless the person wrote the code down on the provided radio ID card and placed it somewhere. Too bad about the wheels -- I was kinda surprised that stock was 15". (I have a 93 EX as well) Mine shifts roughly as well, sometimes I can barely get it. I was told the cable starts to unwind and retwist incorrectly after a while and could be replaced, but I didn't want to spend the money as long as I was still able to get it out of park. You have low miles -- mine's at 162k
