My Accord is Being Repainted
They fixed the damage from my New Years Eve accident, and weren't satisfied with color matching. I looked at it, and it was barely noticeable, but they offered a full repaint. It's under insurance, so I don't pay a dime. So all of it gets an entirely new coat of Nighthawk Black Pearl on every body surface except inside the door jams.
On a not-so-good note, my Alpine deck jammed and refuses to fold back into the dashboard. Time to ship it to Alpine. :fawk:

My Kenwood jammed shut for a week. The fuses were fine and then all of the sudden the thing flipped open again. I wish it was manual, one less thing that could break.
Dark colors like the Nighthawk Black Pearl is a pain in the ass to match.

Next time, I'm going with a fixed deck. But overall happy with the Alpine.
Well its about time. There should be some kind of fine or punishment for leaving your car all banged up like that for so long.

too bad.... paint jobs never look as good as OEM, nor hold up as long.

Actually, this place is quite good. Our local Honda dealer contracts them for all their body work, and I've seen some of their products. They even do wet sanding there.

Even the best body shops can't get black right. Lighter colors are a little easier, but with black, you always get too much orange peel. Hopefully the paint is half-decent. PPG is most common, I don't know who Honda uses for OEM, but usually PPG holds up pretty well.
Most shops tell me black is the easiest to apply, and metalics are the hardest. I've seen plenty of paint jobs look as good as stock and if you go to a good shop it will last you the life of your car.
