Default antenna

My antenna on my 95 lx stopped working about a week ago. The worst of winter is over now and I think the freezing and unfreezing of it over the winter screwed it up, but the motor works, the antenna will not go up or down, wondering if there is anything I could do for it, other than take it to a service center.

I think there's a plug you can get if you just wanna ditch it.

Idunno, the antenna on my 4th Gen never worked for the 3 years I had it... :dunno:

Yeah, the mast is probably broken. Honda said 60 bucks for a new one, so im going to try and rig an amplified antenna for a house in the headliner, since I get no reception since mine is broken.

If you wanna fix it you'll have to buy a freakin expensive replacement mast, or....there are a few options for change. You can remove the mast, disconnect the wires and not have an antenna, or do a conversion from a later gen. If you want to replace it, don't get it from the service center, but from here

All it would require to ditch the antenna would be a rear quarter panel from a '96-97. I also swear there is some sort of plug for the hole, but maybe I am nuts.

Or maybe you remember my thread a little while back. However, I don't know if my solution works on a 5th gen. I took $0.85 to Home Depot and returned with a nut, bolt, and washer combo. (I think I went with 1/2 inch.) The bolt was a gradually rounded head, and I sanded it to remove the numbers, then primed and painted it with my spray paint. I couldn't get the mast out, so I jammed it down in the trunk and pulled the wires to disable it. Then I put this little nut and bolt combo in place, and voila! a clean looking plug. No problems yet, and a whole lot easier/cheaper than replacing the q panel.
