Default Ignition upgrades

Is it worth it to get one these ignition packages like from MSD or another company? They claim to be more efficient than stock and is less likely to misfire at high rpms. I don't have any other engine upgrades like an intake or anything. Yay or nay?

The ignition stuff isn't going to do very much for you if you don't have any other mods. We did my buddy's lude this summer with the MSD ignition/coil+ magnecore wires/new plugs, and the only real difference we notice is that it seems to be a LITTLE bit stronger in low RPMS. He said something about being able to go 20 in 5th and it not stalling, but he was probably exagerating. It does look pretty badass tho.

Anyway, if I were you I would totally do an intake first. that's the best-bang-for-your-buck first mod everyone should do.

Its true, Honda Ignition Coils are notorious for not being very good sometimes , especially output at high RPMs or they just dont wanna work , replacing with a blaster coil and blaster cap will make the car run more smoother and wont stall out

I have a MSD blaster coil and distributor... I noticed a pretty big difference from stock... it pulls harder and runs a hell of a lot smoother, especially when I'm nearing the red-line. My stock ignition is killing the true performance of them though, I want to get a MSD SCI next.

In the EX models, wirring the coil is a pain... you need to run wires from inside the distributor (positive and negative) from where the stock coil connected. I ran them through small holes I made in a large part of the rubber gasket, so water would not penetrate. In the lower model accords, its a little easier, as they had external coils to begin with.

Honda engines run clean, i mean LEAN. ignition upgrades won't do anything. your engine may run smoother but it won't "MAKE" horsepower.

answer is NAY

Default Ignition mods

Im running a MSD SCI-L, Blaster 2 Coil, MSD Wires, NGK Iradiums. The throttle reponse is excellent + like they said more power at low RPM's. it's really cool.

I had a prelude with a ton of mods and I was running a Jacobs I.C.E and it made a little difference, but eventually I went back to stock and I didn't notice much of a difference. The aftermarket ignition wore out my spark plugs a lot faster too. If you are totally stock and want power there are a lot of other things you should do first. I wouldn't even mess with an iginition now unless I was running nitrous or forced induction

Wrong. Honda engines run rich naturally to prevent detonation. If Honda engines run lean, people will be blowing them left and right already. You do not ever want an engine to run lean.

Yeah I dont think honda's run lean becuase doesnt the V-tec spray more gasoline @ certain rpm to compensate for the power consumption the engine needs to give it that "boost" we feel?
