Headlight covers cloudy
The clear headlight covers on my 02 accord have become cloudy, and I also noticed when it rained what appeared to be water/condensation inside. What is a good method of removing this discoloration/oxidation and also I assume the gaskets around the cover keep the water out. Is this a pretty big job ? This is really annoying to me, so I will fix them one way or another, if it's just time consuming no big deal, I think if I can get the covers off, and back on with good gaskets, and remove the oxidation I would be more than willing to invest the time into it.
Would appreciate any recommendations on what to use to remove the oxidation, and also about how to be sure to keep water out in the future.
Thanks, Clint

I guess you have to remove the condensation from inside the headlight. The lens is glued on so you'll have to use a heatgun to melt the glue or throw it in the oven if you dont have a heat gun.
You could buy a buffing ball and use to clean the inside with that.
You should then reseal the healight using silicone, at the edges where the lens meets the housing. And change the gaskets, I guess.
Now for the oxydation on the outside, you can use either an orbital buffer with rubbing compound or start with 1500 grit sandpaper by hand, wetsanding it and keep going up to 2000 grit, then finish off with rubbing compound with a cloth. That's how I did mine. However, the wetsanding method is killer pain, because it takes a lot of buffing. Good luck.

i got some aftermarket headlights for my CD5, and noticed that they tend to fog, i took a heat gun to the lense, started out like 18" away, and worked my way in, that seemed to take away the fogging without having to remove the housing, btw.... you can pick up the heat gun at wallyworld for like twenty five$, and as for the oxidization, +1 to line 7^^
There was a good post I know this is honda, I had an sc400 with condensation and what they said to do was put the oven on warm and place the headlamps in there to warm up the glue and then slowly work the pieces apart with a putty knife. Hope that helps. Heat guns can do some damage so I err on the side of caution and besides if the ovens to hot the damage is consistant :-P
