Sounds like a bad starter solenoid or the starter itself.

your starter is gone. if it happens to be a denso, then you might be able to use toyota starter contact replacement kit.

ok, the starter is fine, and the clutch is fine, there's NO POWER to the starter when i turned the key to start. what would it be the problem, where would the relay be?

check ground wires too. a common one is on the passenger side of the engine under the distributor cap.. if it hasnt come off it can be loose. happened to me. the main feul relay is under the drivers side dash left side of the steering wheel. way up there. black box. cant miss it. easy to replace yourself. normally the relay goes bad in the summer time.

How do you know the starter is good? You could check the Starter Cut Relay in the under dash fuse box, its under the driver side. Or mayber your starter-interlock switch is bad, its the switch that engages when you press down on your clutch

i took the starter to the shop and checked out fine, all the fuses and the clutch switch is fine, now here's the problem, i can push start the car but just can't start with the key,
when i turned the key to start, all the dash lights is fine, and the clicking sounds comes from under the dash. Not the starter, so if i can push start the car, is that means nuttin wrong with the main relay??
Is not the starter, clutch switch, main relay, fuses and battery, would it be the ignition switch???
If the ignition switch is bad , will the dash lights comes on when i turned the key to on???

Short version: Autozone tested a starter for me one time and told me it was good. Only to end up having a bad starter. I think you need a new starter as well.

Long version: Autozone sent me on a wild goose chase trying to figure out why my car wouldnt start. All it did was click. I thought for sure it was the starter so took the starter to autozone to get another one. They said they are required to check it. They put it on their bench and came back and told me it was good. So after a week of relay changing and fuse checking my granddad came over and was like boy your starters bad. I told him what autozone told me. He said to tell autozone to f*** themselves and give me a new starter. SO when i went up there again they said your starter is good. I was like i dont care give me another one. They said well you cant bring it back if it doesnt fix your problem. I was like thats fine. Put it on and the car started up first time everytime. I think all they do is put it under electrical power to see if it spins. I dont think they actually put in under any kind of load to see if it can really turn something over.

bypass the starter my friend. find the S terminal in the starter itself, take this wire out and grab a remote starter. hook up the other end of the remote starter to the battery red terminal and the other end to the S terminal of the starter. press the switch and if the engine cranks, then ur problem is within the ignition wiring system (means from the ignition switch to the s terminal). If you still hear a click only when you do the bypass, then the pinion gear of your starter is not meshing with the flywheel teeth. Hope u find your problem

Hi, I am having the same issue. Turn the key and nothing happens. The dash lights up, and everthing else works fine. Just will not turn over. Took the starter off and brought it to autozone and they said it checked out fine. Where able to figure out what was wrong with your car?
