not bad eh? but yes, there is a lot of low end power lost i guess. but 13-15 hp proven gain isn't bad. for changing/removing the cat and the airbox between runs.

Did you read the entire post? He changed his cat to a high flow, cut a hole in the airbox, AND he also changed the entire cat back exhaust for that 13-15hp gain which was measured over a very very long time. 83k/93k baseline vs 161k modded. Thats several years to rack up 70-80k in mileage, and that final could have been a cold day in March vs a hot humid day in August for baseline, those links dont work.

Doesn't really matter though, I dont know how you can compare the gains in a rotary engine to our piston engines in this aspect. The engines are too different. Rotaries just have exhaust, and intake ports, not all the valves we have. Exhaust gases are travelling faster there

The Rotary will gain much much more from decreasing back pressure than ours will, they also spool up a turbo much faster than ours for the same reason. Also since he did the cat back exhaust and highflow cat at the same time you couldnt get much from that even if you could compare the 2 engines.

i believe it's an n/a model, but even then, it's still a 13b rotary. i'll just give up now and stop comparing my friend's rex with hondas.

well after having a straight pipe system with no cat at all i can honestly say i get some gains however in my case i had lots of lag (mainly due to my exhaust diameter) but in the mid power band u really noticed the gains. i failed emissions most places and passed others the sound was the best part loud but low deep tone no can of bees sound liek some cat backs give. when i opted to redo my exhaust system i went high cat with smaller daimeter piping and a good rear section

hi. im planning on installing my headers and catback exhaust soon, so i have to take the CAT out reguardless so should i gut it out? i have heard people do this, but does it really add any gains, and more importantly, will i pass emissions testing in philly? if anyone has done this, please let me know.
by the way.. the headers are dc sports ceramic coated and exhaust is r*sr catback. thanks!

www.testpipe.com its cheap! Plus wont u need that cat converter for the smog check? Dont destroy it! They are freaken expensive .... Dealer wanted 1000 buxs for a new cat on my 98 accord. I said "screw that!"

MY friend had a 96 camaro. He had FLOWMASTER on it. It was sticking out from the back. He got hit in the rear and it fell off (the pipes and the catalytic converter). He got a nice sound but there was this stupid smell after and u could see this black smoke coming out.

people like me are gonna say keep it. the "tree huggers" are gonna say replace it. your car with open headers gives off less pollutants than a semi-truck. whats the difference? a 4cyl doesnt put out as much pollutants as a V8. keep it the way it is

OH I could give a **** about tree huggers.I just dident know if i should replace it with a performance cat.(illegal). The hole is right in the middle of it. When I had air ride(stupid me), all 4 bags poped and slamed to the ground causing harm to the exhaust and cat. But I put springs on now...........
