Climate control/radio display problem…

Default Climate control/radio display problem…

This evening I put the keys in the ignition and turn to “acc” the lights on the climate control/radio display turned on (as always). As soon as I turn the key to the “on” position to start the car the display went blank along with all the light on the climate control. The climate control and radio/cd player work, but no lights so I can’t see anything. If I look very, very closely I can see the display does show the usual stuff but no lights. So my question to this is; does anyone know if there is a fuse, or should I get this fixed, or should I just go to the junk yard and see if I can find one there. If I can find one with navigation will this work.
The car is a 03 Accord EX V6 (every option but no nav).

Strange. I would think that on ACC or ON, the illumination would always come thru the same fuse.

Called the dearler this morning and was told this happens quite often. Anyway, the dealer said that the circuit board which powers the lights got fried, and that Honda has given an extended warranty on this piece so it's no charge to me. That's good, for a new unit is $1000. I'm getting it fixed next week.:hsd:

i have seen many problems with the head unit. they all defective in some way.

On the 7th gen Accords, if the display on the radio goes blank you must predd & hold the CD button for 5 seconds. You'll hear a beep and the display should come back on. ( out of stealth mode)
I've noticed this on many 7th gen accords.
If this doesn't work then the unit is defective.
Funny thing is that many dealers don't know this
