Default short ram intake question

i heard that installing a short ram intake might actually cause a loss of horsepower because the engine sucks in hot air and that i might as well leave the stock airbox in. is there any truth to that? also, does the short ram intake change the sound of the engine under hard acceleration?

Unless u live in the cold ass weather here in Canada

doesn't it gain some power while driving highway speeds or w/e?
also the engine sucks more air than stock

i think what eliteaccord is saying is that when you remove the resonator from the airbox, you get the same effect as installing a short ram without spending the money. im sure that a short ram will pull in more air but i always heard that pulling in hot air will actually cause the engine to lose power. thats why they say getting a cold air intake is a much better option. but in my case, since i live in an area that floods whenever a bad storm comes through, cold air intake isnt an option for me. i dont want to be sucking in water.

since you're in FL and it rains all the time down there, i'd go with the short ram, but the hot humid air will choke up your engine. just go with an AEM CAI with the bypass valve, you should be all good.

Is taking the Resonator out easy? How do you do it?

for a v6 6th gen it's super easy ... just remove the front bumper, then look at the drivers side headlight. you'll see a large black box, that's the res. there's 2 10mm bolts holding it in place.
