Very old news. get it clipped and get your timing belt and water pump replaced at the same time and honda will cover the labor for you. (savings of at least several hundred bucks!!!)

if it blows it can be catastrophic...you will dump all of your oil in a matter of minutes...happened to my bro on the way to get the seal clipped.

happened to my sister. there was a trail of oil that started at the bottom of our driveway and went all the way to the end of the neighborhood. she had to pull over in a strip mall right outside of our neighborhood. mine was replaced before i bought the car

Just happened to me about 2 weeks ago... it's not fun. They only payed for my timing belt but I went ahead and replaced the water pump and all other drive belts at the same time, ended up costing me $280 and a ****ing piston slap... I can't drive my car as hard anymore because of the damage... after about 2 minutes of driving once the oil pressure light came on.

Ok after reading this post i want to make my appointment for mine to be fixed also.. However i do need to replace my timing belt also. What are the advantages of doing this all at one time.

Through the dealer a timing belt, water pump and drive belts can normally run you about $600-700 bucks. If you get those done with the seal "clip" (they clip the seal to stay shut) you are usually looking at around <$300 because they only charge you for parts not labor.....so if youre at >60,000 mile or 5 years get it done now. For the really slow youre saving at least $300.

BTW this really only applies to all 94-96 and some 97 accords.

Sweet. I remember getting this in my mail a while ago. I better hurry up and get this fixed soon. Think I'll make the appt for Friday. That'll be free, but what do I say to Honda about having free labor on the timing belt and the water pump? How much should I be looking in total for this job?
