Default Blown shock?

Aight, last night I was driving and all of a sudden my left wheel slammed down like it hit a huge pot hole, but there isn't one in that spot. I instantly looked in my mirror and saw what could be like a puff of white air. Did my shock blow or is it something completely different? If it was, would my ride be super harsh now? (cuz it's not.) HELP!!!

WTH...after your car slammed down...did it rebound back up? I'm assuming it did...but there must have been SOMETHING that caused it...

All I know about blown shocks are...you get a LOT of movement before the shock settles after every inconsistency in the road...meaning your car will feel bouncy/springy and at times a bit boaty. This is VERY bad for your handling and tires. Is your car lowered on stock shocks? How many miles?

i ain't no pro or nothing, but check the strut to see if there's grease and shiit all over it. just look up in the strut assembly. if so, den dat mufukca is blown.

i've went through a ton of struts thanks to autozone giving me the wrong front pair--TWICE

Nope, it's not lowered yet. And I have 158k miles. On certain roads it is really bouncy, so I'm wondering if it maybe is blown.

Update -- both front ones must be blown. In just a few days of driving it I've experienced all the telltale problems: loose cornering, serious wheel hop while accelerating, and yesterday while leaving the light the wheels were so busy going up and down they were barely going forward.

Here's my next question -- if the price difference between stock and perfomance is so little that it'd be dumb not to, I suppose I absolutely have to replace all four with aftermarket, right? And if that's the case, would it be completely retarded to stick with stock springs? Money is the issue here. What do you think?

www.autozone.com

Rear: $35.99 each
Front: $41.99 each

just make sure those muthafukcas don't give you the wrong front pair like they did to me--TWICE!

so you're saying aftermarkets would be cheaper than those listed above
