Default How effective are wheel locks?

How effective are wheel locks to prevent thief? I don't have any special locks on my car now. Should I get the genuine Honda one or is there any better one out there? Thank you.

well ... if a thief wants something, they'll get it. to be safe, you could always put like 3 sets of locks on.

Unless you have $1500+ wheels, one set from Honda will do the job just fine

Thx for the comments.

Let's see. If I have a set from Honda (which I can buy from other online sources), then the thief will have access to the locks too. That's why I am in a dilemma whether it is worth it to spend $50-100 for a set of locks.

I only have the stock wheels on my 03 Coupe EX 5sp.

I got a set of kyokugen lug nuts for $35. 7 sided so they'll foil the 99% of casual thieves that would steal the rims. Good enough for me.

So if I buy a 2003 Accoupe EX 5 speed, I'll have access to your car as well??

Do you really think Honda makes all the wheel locks with the same pattern? C'mon bro.

take a look at the kyokugen lug nuts that cryogen mentioned. wheels locks usually only prevent thieves from stealing your wheels because it takes more time. if someone wants to get something bad enough they can probably find a way to get it.

If a thief wants it, they'll get it. Things such as wheel locks, car alarms, and "The Club" act as a deterrant so that...

1) If they're lazy, they won't go for it or...
2) If they want it bad enough, you make them work for it.

It just makes them work harder for something, that's all. If you had two identical cars parked next to each other and a thief walks up right in the middle because he wants to steal one of them, do you think the thief will steal the one with the alarm/wheel lock/club? Or the one that doesn't have anyone of them?

Just my opinion, of course

I got my kyokugen lug nuts from www.machiii.net

All the car security you get isn't to stop a theif, it's just going to make it harder than they want to deal with. You're not trying to outrun the bear, just the guy next to you.
