SS headers are not worth the time, money, and effort IMO. they are almost purely a cosmetic mod. they suck when it comes to performance. this is why. they dissipate heat into your engine bay which does two things: heats up your engine bay(duh, which may have more adverse consequences on performance) and the dissipated heat causes your exhast gas velocity to slow which causes more backpressure, inefficiency, and loss of hp. the ceramic headers keep the heat contained so that your engine bay doesn't heat up and your exhaust velocity doesn't decrease, leading to better overall engine performance. i personally have never heard of the DC ceramic header cracking. the ceramic headers that crack are usually the cheapie ones you buy off ebay and such.

to answer your last question accordcoup94, yes the headers are steel they just have a ceramic coating to keep the heat from diffusing into the engine bay.

if the ceramic ones are actually better, why does dc sports charge more for their stainless steal headers than it does for their ceramic coated ones? if both headers are made of steal, wouldnt the ceramic ones be better and therfore cost more? i agree with the previous post about all the benefits of ceramic ones compared to ss ones... im lost about which one is better. and does anyone know what kind of hardware the headers come with? (bolts, gaskets??)

the reason DC and the other companies charge more for SS is simply the fact that they look pretty nice under the hood. they can get away with that because all these kids think that they look pretty, they must give me around 20-30 hp therefore DC charges more and they pay more. it's simple supply and demand.

you can use all of your hardwarefrom your manifold(ie bolts, O2 sensor, etc...). the DC header does come with an O2 sensor relocation kit because the sensor will be in a different place and the wire won't reach.

they dont use ss in the cc headers, no point in it if your going to put a coating over it. its just a cheaper mild steel.

exactly, they use mild steel like they say on all their brochures & website. Stainless Steel is harder & more dangerous to weld together & takes more time which means more $$$. mild steel is very cheap & usable when mig/tig welding. Neuspeed headers & Airmass have the flex pipe & the O2 sensor adaptor, so make sure the guy gives you the wire extension. btw, these 2 makes hav a ceramic coating on the inside of the pipes to better increase gas flow & heat dissipation, DC Sports does NOT.

& u might wanna buy a new exhaust gasket, your old 1 will probably fall apart & if the guy gives 1 to ya it could be in poor condition, especially since it's been used.
