Default My first post - kinda unusual event....

I picked up my first Accord this past weekend. Its an 01 Accord LX 2.3L 5-speed. I bought it knowing there was something wrong with the A/C. The previous owner believed the compressor was shot.

While trying to get a closer look at the shifter rods on the tranny I pulled the intake pipe off and discovered what is pictured below. On the bottom of the intake tract there is what I am guessing is a noise-cancelling plastic elbow. The intake pipe was installed such that this plastic elbow was rubbing against the side of the smaller aluminum A/C line coming out of the evaporator core. Over time it appears the rubbing actually wore a fairly sizable hole in the side of the line.

Thought Id share and if you have a similar engine/oem intake setup you might want to check the clearance of that elbow and that line. The pic is taken with the camera next to the engine and generally pointing towards the passenger side strut tower.

The line runs between the evap core and receiver/dryer and is apparently about $52 from the dealer.
