Default 5th Gen Brake Question

sup. i got a 96 lx here and when i brake on the freeway (not a soft tap but fairly hard, ie. 75mph to 45mph) i get a shake and rumble feeling. just making sure if it is rotors and what else may have play into this problem? thanks

btw, anyone know off top of their head how much honda charges to do a full brake inspection?

You don't need a press for the wheel bearings. Search on here and you'll find a couple of different ways to do it. I used the old head bolt method.

so in essence, i just need to unscrew 4 screws that are holding the rotor onto the hub?

i dont have air tools; i just got a ratchet with socket #3...maybe 4 but not sure.

You will have to unbolt those 4 bolts on the front, but you have to get the rotor/hub off the knuckle first. That's where I used the old headbolts. After I got the knuckle with the rotor and hub to swing out from the CV joint, I removed the 4 bolts holding the hub bearing on, inserted the 4 old head bolts and used a hammer to tap on those. The assembly then comes off the knuckle. The you remove the 4 front bolts and continue with the rotor change.

I don't have air tools either.

What head bolts are you talking about? Are they bolts for the cylinder head?

I'm guessing that they are the right thread pitch and long so you can hammer out the hub/knuckle assembly.

nah i removed the knuckle; but then i found out i was suppose to remove the four flange bolts that were holding the hub and rotor together. either way, i took out the knuckle because i needed the room to take out the four bolts in the back of the knuckle.
