fuse layout 95 accord
a fuse cant control the alt. The alt only runs when the car is on. THe accord alt creates about 95amps and from there wires go to the fuse box. Fromt he fusebox theres the 100amp fuse for the batt and the rest for other components since a device will draw how many amps it needs. if you be more specific as what fuse you need i can find out for u.
here's the deal. my daughter has this car up at college and I'm trying to help here over the phone. about 1 month ago car wouldn't start (-10 degrees) so she jumped it and blew the 100 amp fuse. (maybe crossed polarities) So I figured that out and she replaced the fuse and battery and it worked fine. Now the car will only start with a jump and run for about 5 miles then the lights go dim and it dies. I know it's probably the alternator but was hoping it could be something easier?
it sounds like an alt problem for sure. If you can start it, go to a local parts source or autozone if available in the states, they will do a battery and alternator load test for free. they will tell you what is gone or what needs to be replaced.
got it to a repair shop and they replaced the battery and alternator. Got about 100 miles and the lights went dim again and it died. Getting 12v across battery when car is off. 11.5v when car is running. another bad alternator?
Have her look to see if the battery and alternator look like they are new to make sure the parts got replaced.
If the bat/alt look new, have her look at the ends of the battery cables and make sure that they are clean and secure. Also check out the cable going to the alternator. The plug in the alternator should be clean and secure.
