Default ebay chip...bs, or worth a try

i searched other posts, and i didn't see anything related to this topic....so if someone has already asked this, forgive me

my 98 civic was stolen, so i am looking at an 03 accord 6 speed.

i check out ebay quite a bit, and i keep seeing this....
"PERFORMANCE CHIP HONDA ACCORD 92-97 98-00 01 02 03 +20HP"

i'm sure just about everyone has seen that more than once. it claims to be a resistor modification that adjusts air/fuel ratio to gain "up to 20 HP" for about $10 and will do no harm to the computer or engine.

i guess my question is...has anyone heard anything about them, tried them, and is it worth $10 to give it a shot.

my dad always told me if it sounded too good to be true, it was prob a bad idea. what do you guys think?

This fabled "resistor" mod only fools your ECU into using a richer fuel trim than what the intake temperature sensor would otherwise tell the ECU to run.

It's absolute hogwash and 20 hp is not going to come from it.
You'll be needlessly burning more gas.
Avoid it.

Certainly not bad to be curious about, but yes, they are a scam. The same people that purchase them are the same that send a $2000 check and all their personal information to the prime minister of the late King of Nigeria so he'll deposit a million dollars in their bank account.

those chips actually work pretty good. you definitely don't get 20 HP but you get about 7 or 8. they also dont suck gas.
