Default Goodbye Honda

I have been a loyal Honda owner for many years, buying a new Accord EX every three years since 88. I wouldn't think of buying anything else but this time around however, I bought a Toyota Camry.

Why? Because of the road noise issue. I've put up with it for years but while test driving the 2008 Accord, I found it to be the worst of any model year. You would think that after Consumer Reports repeatedly complained about it, that Honda would eventually listen, but it's obvious they don't.

The Camry is super quiet in comparrison. Enough said.

You must have missed where I said "road noise"

It was always pronounced in all the models I owned, but was just unbearable in the 08. I test drove three of them before I gave up and bought the Camry, which by comparison, is quiet.

Maybe Honda will eventually get the message.... or not.

was roadnoise the only factor in buying the camry?

the camry has its own set of cons too.

I agree with the road noise factor, not to mention the rattles that develop after 100K miles. I've got a 99 Accord and sometimes the rattles are so bad I have to turn the radio up so I don't go nuts. It's usually only when it's really cold outside though which isn't too often. I've noticed these problems in Toyotas as well. The difference is I've driven cars that usually have higher mileage, 80K-160K. At that point Toyota's and Honda's both have road noise and rattles.

And by the way, a new car every 3 years? Quit buying new cars man, it's a waste of money. Pick up the 2-3 year old models and you'll save a bundle and get a car almost as good as new but for 1/3rd the price. Remember, they're Honda's and Toyota's. A three year old Ford might be dodgy (at least the older ones) but not Honda's and Toyota's.

I dunno about road noise, I didn't find it to be that bad, but I was supremely disappointed after driving the 2008 V6 Coupe 6MT...I feel that Honda has taken 1 step forward and 5 steps back.

Interesting that you say that.To date,I have only seen 2 08 Accord coupes on the street.I haven't seen the sales numbers yet but I would bet that they are very low, that's just a guess though.
