Default QUESTION: '93 Accord Bose Radio

I have a question on the 93 Accord Bose system:

Are the speakers powered from the radio or separate amplifiers?

Also, I see that this radio has the external CD connection:

How is that activated from the radio?

How do you know it has an "external CD connection"?

99% of OEM head units power the speakers, hence the large number of connection pins. With Honda it is 100% unless I am mistaken.

That round 8 pin connection is commonly used on Honda radios for an external CD player.

Most Bose systems aren't powered from the radio, but I wanted to make sure.

My fault, I didn't see it there. Yes you are correct that is an AUX input.

What you need is an input adapter such as this: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=340

This will allow you to connect virtually any sound device.

However I am not sure how to actually play it I would suspect the answer is in your owner's manual. An old Honda trick is accessing special functions by 'holding down' buttons, maybe you have to hold down the AM/FM button .

Actually you're right, I think it does have an amp on the BOSE stereo. I'm not familiar with 4th gens, sorry.

Default Amp for Bose stereo

Yes, there is a remote amp for this stereo and it's located behind the side panel on the passenger side rear seat. The seat comes out and the panel isn't too big of job to get out. My son's '93 Accord SE had a sound problem, so I got a new amp on e-bay and the sound is fine now.
