Default Need help with axle replacement

I saw in the DYI section an axle replacement for a Civic.I have searched and searched and can't seem to find any step by step pics for an axle replacement for a 94 Accord.Since I'm sure that I probably won't find it,my question is that is the replacement the same for an Accord pretty much the same as a Civic?

If anyone has a link for Accord axle replacement could you please post. Thanks

Yes, it's the same. However, it's an extremely messy and somewhat tricky job. One time one of my axles popped out while doing a control arm and it took about 2 hours to line it back up and pop it in with a friend who is an experienced mechanic. I suggest you order a Helms manual for reference.

What makes it messy?I'm changing the whole axle not just the boot.I have a Haynes book and it says drain the transaxle lubricant, but I noticed on the DYI,that wasn't done(unless I missed that part).Do I have to drain it and is that where the mess comes from?

i don't know about the newer ones but on my 91 it was super easy.

that transaxle fluid will drain out when you take the axle out. so drain it prior to avoid that and refill it after.

it is just messy if the undercarriage wasnt kept clean or the boot exploded.

you can always give it a nice pressure wash prior to fixing it.

but yes, that civic one posted by Jafro is the way to go.

So my mechanic is talking about 2 hours to do just the driver's side axle(non abs,if that even makes a difference),that really doesn't sound right to me considering all the stuff I've read about it taking around 15 minutes.

So I had the axle replaced on Saturday and it took about 45 minutes and he charged me 50 buck instead of the 75 that he quoted me.Needless to say,I will not be going back to the first guy anymore. If there is something that I can't do or don't want to do myself, the 50 dollar guy is who I'll be going to from now on.
